What is the Association for Children of New Jersey?
The Association for Children of New Jersey (ANCJ) is the state's foremost child advocacy agency. Established in 1978, ACNJ's roots go back more than 150 years. ACNJ gives children and families a voice in the State House, community, courthouse, City Hall and in the classroom. ACNJ staff increases public awareness of the economic, educational and social needs facing children, building the political will to address them. This is accomplished through public debate, research, legislative advocacy, publications, community outreach and training.
ACNJ's legislative efforts include a state earned income tax credit, free and low-cost health insurance for low-income working families, additional protections for children in foster care, and juvenile justice reforms.
Who is ACNJ?
ACNJ is a statewide nonprofit, non-partisan child advocacy organization. We advocate on a broad range of issues affecting children and families and work in various policy arenas. Special areas of attention include: Budget Advocacy, Public Policy, Early Education, Child Health, Community Advocacy and Outreach.
ACNJ is governed by a 30-member Board of Trustees including people of various professions, ages, races and cultural backgrounds united by a deep concern for the well-being of New Jersey children.
