Caring for Infants and Toddlers with Disabilities:
New Roles for Physicians (CFIT) is an in-service training program designed to help physicians become more actively involved in early intervention services for infants and toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities. CFIT has worked with family, physician, and other early intervention representatives to establish a Leadership Planning Group (LPG) to guide and assist with the replication of this training in our state. I am looking to you to help recruit parents who would be willing to participate in this program.
The family members who participate will be asked to attend a full day Train-the-Trainer Seminar as members of a regional training team and then will be asked to provide training to physicians in their communities with the team.
Please contact me if you want more information about the program or if you are interested in participating yourself. The outcomes of this project are impressive in other states, the Leadership Planning Group (LPG) is hopeful that NJ will see the same results with your help.
Time required:
Ø Attendance at a Train-the-Trainer Seminar to be held in a central location (1day)
Ø Completion of CFIT independent study (time required varies based on individual needs)
Ø Participation as a panel member for at least one Introductory Seminar, each three hours in duration
Ø Telephone contact as needed for planning Introductory Seminars
Thank you in advance for your help recruiting family members. You can contact me with names of those who show interest, or have them contact me directly at catherine @nreic.org .

The Family seems to be the most
effective and economical system for fostering and sustaining the child’s
development.
Without family involvement, intervention is likely to be
unsuccessful, And what few effects are achieved are likely to disappear once the intervention is
discontinued. — Urie Bronfenbrenner
