Free Hotline For Air Travelers with Disabilities

Transportation Department has a toll-free hotline for air travelers with disabilities who experience disability-related air travel problems and seek information and assistance. The office is open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., EST, seven days a week.

Unfortunately, many members of the public are still not aware of the existence of the hotline and as a result the hotline is not being sufficiently used.

The number is 1-800-778-4838 (voice)  or  1-800-455-9880 (TTY). If you are traveling with a person with disabilities, it is a good idea to call the airline that you will be using and let them know what assistance will be needed. Call 48 hours in advance to confirm that assistance is available. When you reach the counter, they can send a message to cabin attendants (via computer).
